Here's To Gary

Well, I can't beleive it, I finished, WOW!

Anyway, I'm going to be giving my new MP3 Player to my brother, Gary for his birthday, July 8th. My girls and I already have MP3's and IPOD's, but my brother can't afford to spend his hard earned money on such things, so I did this course for myself to learn more about what's out there and for my brother, Gary. My brother is a hard working individual that makes do with what he has. He doesn't spend his money foolishly or on impulse. Gary is a great guy and brother and we have always been close to each other. When my brother was about 6 years old, he fell from the shoulders of one of my sisters, he almost died. He cracked open the back of his head and had to have surgery. The doctors told my mom that Gary won't be the same high spirted and smart child she had known for those six years, but that he would probably be a little "slow" and may have trouble learning. Gary was the only son at the time among three sister's, so this was very heart felt to our parents. Gary had it a bit rougher than the rest of us and was in special classes to help him learn and some actually thought he was the ideal person to pick on at school. I stood by my brother for everything and tried to help whenever possible. When my mom passed away some years ago the rest of our family thought my brother would never make it on his own.My brother became homeless when I was living in another state and I couldn't reach him, some family members knew, but won't tell me. I just kept calling everyone then I finally found out he was living in a box in a parking lot. I helped him get back on his feet and helped him get an apartment and he got a job. Well, now he is a man and a good one at that and has had a life I won't wish on anyone. He has a full time job and a house and works very hard to keep it. He has actually without knowing it so much, proved those who doubted his abilities...wrong. My brother is a great, wonderful and caring man and is very dear to my daughters and myself and giving him this MP3 after my girls load it with the music he loves doesn't begin to express just how proud of him I am! So "Here's To Gary" the greatest brother ever!

Yes, finally #9

I enjoyed Liveplasma as well as Musicmap as I found them easy to use as well as useful for finding my music. I didn't care for upto11! I didn't know that Martin Barre would be simular to Jethro Tull, very cool. Media should be offered with pay as you use rights. Oh yeah, Library Musical, good and funny.

Young Adult, Main

This is the young adult area at main. I like the clean look and space available. This is part of #8 assignment.

Flickr........8, Hawaii Here I Come!

Flickr was fun, although I didn't seem to be able to find my posted pictures, but I'm still looking to fix that. I did find tsimpson's pictures, nice. Online learning can be fun and endless. I enjoyed seeing other libraries doing their part to encourge the public to see how much fun, as well as educational the library can be. I'm truly not interested in posting information about my self on line for everyone to see, it's just me I guess. I did receive some help from co-workers on 2.0 and I in turn tried to help or encourage those who hadn't started 2.0 as well as those who thought they won't be able to finish.

Seven.....7

I found alot to do on the Dogster and Catster sites. Bottle Talk was, well...okay, but wow The Puzzle Player was a lot of fun, I almost forgot I was still doing 2.0. For my adventure I chose Podcast as my 2.0 application and searched for gardening, great articles.

Why I Love The Library

I enjoyed the clips of why I love the library. All this social networking is just mind boggling. I was interested in the Map of the World, a Library in Fairbanks, Alaska, doing 2.0, wow. I really liked, What Do I Read Next, but I spent alot of time on Motor Map USA, as I 'm car shopping and sooooo many cars..........

Time To Catch-Up...Wow!

I'm actually enjoying this 2.0. So far my favorite was making my meez! Oh yeah, sure, she doesn't look much like me, but I have a beach chair like her's!

Myspace & Youtube

I thought lonelygirl was very interesting. I didn't realize that OCLS was on Myspace as well as Youtube, wow! I quess I'll visit the site more often now.

RSS Feeds & Grokker

Well, Grokker's grouping of search results didn't really impress me, and I searched for Cats. As for the RSS feeds I choose the following as my feeds, Rolling Stones, About Cats, Wash. Post Book Review, USA Today Books, National Geographic News Animal & Nature, NYT Book Review, About Animals & Wildlife, About Literature. That part I enjoyed.

Off Time From The Library

It was a lot of fun designing my meez. Thanks Jenn for your help to get started!

Bloglines

Well, that was very interesting! It was somewhat confusing, but I do like the way everything is easily assessable in one place.
